Some competition on the way for Apple Pay.  I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    It’s a company called Plastc, and co-founder Ryan Marquis says pre-orders in the first week for the company’s PlastCard have now topped five million dollars.  One big advantage it will have over Apple Pay is that the digital card can be used with existing banking and payment equipment.   And….

“Plast Card will be able to store and use your credit cards, debit cards, gift cards, loyalty cards, it even has RFID technology built into it so it can be used for an access card.  It’s a full touch screen E-ink matrix display.”

Plastc is taking pre-orders for 159 dollars and says it expects to have the digital cards in the hands of consumers next summer.   The tiny battery that runs it will need to be wirelessly re-charged about once a month.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
