A GPS enabled fitness watch from Polar Electro.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    The M400 is a stylish and relatively compact fitness watch from the folks at Polar Electro.   Senior product specialist Mike Herlihy…

“It has an integrated GPS sensor built into the watch.  So for runners, it’s going to give them their speed, their distance and their pace.  What’s truly unique about it however is it has an integrated accelerometer as well.   So in addition to the speed and distance data, it will also give you activity information.  So it’s going to give you your steps taken, an estimation of your calories burned and more importantly, a recommendation as to what you can do to live a more day.”

Unlike devices such as the new Microsoft Band, it does not have a heart rate monitor built in, but can be worn with an add on chest strap.   The M400 can use computers or smartphones, certain smartphones,  to sync data.   The price, about two hundred dollars and with a heart rate monitor for about fifty dollars more.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
