Mobile carriers wooing subscribers for the holidays

Mobile carriers look to woo new subscribers for the holidays.    I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    It’s the time of year when lots of people have new phones on their shopping or wish lists…and that spells opportunity for mobile carriers.   Sprint Chief Marketing Officer Jeff Hallock…

“When customers bring us their AT&T and Verizon bills, we’ll take their rate plan for voice, data and text, whatever that happens to be, and we’ll cut their rate literally in half.”

The savings may be diminished somewhat once you add in the cost of a new phone on Sprint.   T-Mobile in the meantime has been luring customers by what Regional VP Terry Hayes calls the elimination of pain points…

“So we’ve eliminated contracts.   We’ve paid early termination fees on people that do have contracts.   We’ve eliminated overage charges.  We’ve provided free music downloads for folks.”

T-Mobile’s latest offer is for unlimited talk, text and data on two lines for a hundred dollars a month.     You can find aggressive deals too from Verizon and AT&T.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
