Making a difference in computer education. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. It has been a busy month for Code.org CEO and co-founder Hadi Partovi. He’s been to the White House helping the president write his first programming code along with a group of students from Newark and he announced a new public private partnership program that will bring in 20 million dollars to expand computer education to 25 thousand classrooms by September of 2016. Partovi, a tech entrepreneur, launched Code.org just last year….and the biggest names in technology have become big backers…
“You know the tech companies are obviously interested in this because they benefit from the growth of technology. But they’re also interested in this because they have an un-diverse workforce and that lack of diversity starts in the education field.”
Code.org is making fun educational materials available for anyone to use online…expecting to reach 30 million new students around the world. That’s on top of the 50 million during Code.Org’s first year. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
