Wearable tech: Intel wants inside

Techstination feature for Monday, January 19, 2015

When it comes to wearable technology, Intel wants to be inside.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    Wearable tech is growing fast and the world’s biggest maker of chips… Intel…is planning to be a major part of it.   At this month’s International Consumer Electronics Show, the company showed off a new button sized processor called Curie.   Brand Manager Bryan Deaner says it may be small…

“But it contains compute capabilities, sensing capabilities and Bluetooth that we really see going inside of clothing, sporting gear and all sorts of wearable devices.”

When?

“We’ve made some pretty exciting partnership announcements already in the last month or two with Fossil Watches and Luxotica eyewear and we imagine that those partners and other partners that we’re working with in the wearable space will start to incorporate the Intel Curie module later in 2015.”

What kinds of technology might you be wearing before the year is out?   Stay tuned.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
