Making existing smoke/CO2 alarms connected

Techstination feature for Friday, January 23, 2015

Making your existing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms…connected.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     If, like most people, you have smoke alarms and maybe a carbon monoxide alarm in your home…it may not make sense to buy a new system just so you can get alerts on your smartphone.   That’s especially true thanks to a new device called RemoteLync from Kidde Fire Safety.   Director of Product Management Jon Hughes….

“What it does then, after being set up, is listen for an actual smoke or carbon monoxide alarm.  We use patented technology that allows a unit to discriminate between an actual smoke alarm or carbon monoxide alarm and potentially other background noises.   And once it does that, it actually will communicate through to the user’s app.”

Either iOS or Android.   The RemoteLyc arrives at HomeDepot.com next month for about a hundred dollars.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
