Garmin makes some of the best GPS and fitness watches….even better.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    One of the best fitness tracking bands I’ve seen over the last year is Garmin’s VivoFit.   It may not have all of the bells and whistles  that some devices have…but its always on display and one year battery life are terrific.   Now Garmin has announced the VivoFit 2.   What’s new?   The company’s Maddie Estrada….

“We added a backlight so if you’re lying in bed and want to put it into sleep mode you can easily do that.  With our move bar we added a few little enhancements.  So you can add an audible alert so it will ping at you once you’ve been sitting for too long.  Or you can set it up with your smart phone and have your phone buzz at you once you have been sitting for too long and have that be your move alert.”

There’s also an improved clasp.   Also coming…the new fenix 3 GPS watch and the vivoctive…which adds smart watch capabilities…with apps that Garmin is opening up to third parties.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
