Ford drives into Silicon Valley

Techstination feature for Thursday, February 5, 2015

Ford drives into Silicon Valley.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    When you think about it, newer model cars are becoming more and more like little computers on wheels…complete with Internet connections.    So it should come as no surprise…that Ford has opened a new research center in the heart of Silicon Valley and has joined the competition to lure some top engineers into the car business.   And what will they be working on?  Ford’s Vice President of Research and Advanced Engineering Ken Washington….

“They’ll be working on technologies focused on advancing our and accelerating our Ford Smart Mobility plan with an emphasis on vehicle autonomy.  We’ve taken our relationship with Stanford to the next level so we’ll be working with them.   We’re providing them with a Fusion Hybrid automated driving research vehicle.”

A partnership Ford hopes will give it an edge…so to speak…against the competition.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
