How long is the wait at your favorite restaurant?  Maybe an app can help.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    It’s something that Google and Siri can’t tell you.  But an app called uCiC…is designed to help you find out how long that restaurant line is.   It lets you anonymously connect with others who are there already…who can answer your questions.   The app was created by Snapwise, where co-founder Harleen Kaur says it can also be used to communicate with people on location in emergencies or natural disasters…

“And outdoors you can use it for things like checking the powder on the ski slopes or checking the waves before you go surfing.  So there’s a huge array of uses that you can really use it for.”

By answering the questions of others you accumulate what are called Karma points…that you use to get the information you want.   uCiC …for iOS and Android… was the winner of this year’s Mobile Apps Showdown…at the International Consumer Electronics Show.   You can find us…at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
