Tracking a fever with your smartphone. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. What doesn’t connect to a smartphone these days? A company called Kinsa has created the first FDA approved smart thermometer. It looks like a standard thermometer that is connected through a cord to the headphone port of a smartphone…and the app can make a game of the process. CEO Inder Singh says the idea is to get kids to cooperate…
“There’s these animated bubbles and they can pop these bubbles and only as long as they’re taking a temperature properly will the game continue. But even beyond that we extend the meaning of what a temperature taking experience is. So, for example, with a few simple taps you can track either your or your child’s symptoms over time. You can take pictures of physical symptoms like rashes.”
And you can share all of that with your doctor. The price? About thirty dollars. There’s more info at KinsaHealth.com. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
