Searching for a sturdy smartphone?   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Smartphones can be a pretty significant investment….and some devices are a lot tougher than others.   Protection plan provider Square Trade has been testing phones to see which ones can take it….and says VP Jessica Hoffman….the Samsung Galaxy S6 did pretty well…

“So the S6 actually was the most durable of all the phones tested.   It survived the hundred and ten pounds of pressure and actually across the board it was our most durable phone.”    And what do you test for when you say it’s your most durable phone?  “So we perform four tests.  A drop test from six feet.  A dunk test,  ten seconds under water.  A slide test.  And also the bend test.”

The results for the S6 were better than those for the newest iPhones.   But…the Galaxy S6 Edge…did not fare so well.   It was the least bendable of the phones tested.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
