Making a trash can smart.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   There are so many smart devices for the home these days… I suppose it’s no surprise that chips would eventually make their way into the trash can.   And we aren’t talking about that bag of stale chips you left on the counter.   A company called GeniCan has been raising money on the crowdfunding site Indiegogo.  Co-founder and inventor Rob Griffin…

“GeniCan is an intelligent device that fits inside your garbage can and allows you to scan items as you throw them away either via a bar code scanner or via simply talking to it.  If it doesn’t recognize a barcode, it will ask you what may I add to your list and you  simply respond with natural language, potatoes, chicken, tomatoes, whatever the case may be and it adds that translation to text into your grocery list app.

So by knowing what you’re tossing out….GeniCan and it’s app keep track of what should be on your shopping list.   GeniCan expects to ship in September.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
