What’s new from Nest.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     The Nest Thermostat and the Dropcam camera were breakthrough devices in their categories in the connected home.  So, too, was the Nest Protect smoke and carbon monoxide detector.    They were designed  for easy set up and use.    The companies were bought by Google….and operate under the Nest Labs umbrella these days.     And the latest Nest Cam and Nest Thermostat bring some new capabilities.  Nest’s Zoz Cuccias the new Protect is slimmer and has new sensors…and can work in conjunction with the Nest Thermostat…

“It also added a feature that, one of the leading causes of injury in the home with fires is actually smoke inhalation.   So if Nest Protect senses that there’s smoke, a Nest learning thermostat will turn off your fan based system so that it doesn’t keep circulating the smoke throughout the home.”

And all of the devices work through a single app.   You can learn more at Nest.com.    You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
