Sonos zeros in on better sound. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Sonos is a company that has pioneered whole home connected audio….and it has spurred plenty of competition. Now the company has introduced a new flagship Play:5 smart speaker and technology it calls Trueplay. Senior Public Relations Manager Eric Nielsen says it is an app that can tune most Sonos speakers depending on the acoustics of the room…
“We’ll have that ability through your iOS device. You just simply walk around a room, we’ll emit a test tone, we’ll hear what’s happening in that room. We’ll hear what’s happening, we’ll than re-eq things like infinite band graphic equalizer if you will, that’s built into the speakers themselves. We’ll then re-tune it so that it sounds the crisp, clean and rich music experience that we originally designed the speakers to sound like.”
Again, you’ll need an iOS controller to take advantage of Trueplay as part of the Sonos app. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
