PowerUp partners with Parrot for next gen paper airplane drone

Techstination feature for Wednesday, November 18, 2015

Want to make your own drone?   Start with a paper airplane.    I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.      A toy company called PowerUp is partnering with the well known drone maker Parrot, to create camera equipped drones out of paper airplanes.   PowerUp Toys head Shai Goitein says paired with a VR Google Cardboard display…you’ll get a first person view as you fly….

“The way the smartphone app is designed is that it looks like a cockpit, not just a first person view, a head up display, but it feels like you are inside the airplane and you have all the different gauges and the speed and altitude, etcetera, and when you launch the aircraft, you see in real time what the airplane sees.”

PowerUp Toys is on Kickstarter with the new PowerUp FPV.    It is on the market already with its first generation smartphone controlled paper airplane.  It sells on Amazon for about fifty dollars.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
