The Amazon Echo is coming to a store near you. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. When it comes to breakthrough tech products this year, Amazon’s Echo is hard to beat. It is a cylinder shaped device…that looks like a Bluetooth speaker…and in fact is a pretty good one….that also connects to the cloud for its intelligence. The default name is Alexa…the wake up phrase….and then you can ask Echo to go to work. It can play streaming music… integrates with a variety of smart home platforms for controlling lights and such. It can read you a book from Audible, tell you the news, weather, sports customized to what interests you…even the traffic before you leave for work. Amazon sells it for 179 dollars and now it is coming to more than three thousand retail stores around the country ranging from Home Depot and Staples to Brookstone and more. It’s a smart move. The magic of the Amazon Echo doesn’t hit you until you try it and see it in action. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
