BioLite warms up Giving Tuesday. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. BioLite is a company with a mission. It has created stoves that can be used for camping or anywhere outdoors…that have built in thermoelectric generators to create electricity. The electricity powers a fan that helps the stoves burn cleaner….and it also provides power to a USB port for charging smartphones and other devices while you cook. Now the company has announced that through December 11th…it will dedicate 100 percent of its sales to help it reach 50 thousand households across India and Sub-Saharan Africa in the coming year. BioLite’s Erica Rosen….
“In emerging markets, three billion people are still cooking over smoky, open fires every day. And the pollution and toxic emissions from those fires kill four million people annually. The soot from those fires contributes more black carbon …aka soot… into the sky than all the cars and trucks in the world.”
There’s more at GetSootDone.com or BioLite.com. The company, by the way, announced last month it has gone carbon neutral. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
