Attractive option for DIY home security: Sentri

Techstination feature for Tuesday, December 8, 2015

An attractive option for do it yourself home security.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    Sentri …s e n t r i….is the name of a new home security device….that looks like a digital photo frame…but has lots of smarts.     It has a built in camera…that can send alerts to your smartphone…or can be watched live.   It monitors air quality along with temperature and the humidity and features a back up battery as well.   One feature I really like…as simple as it sounds…is the large clock display on the 10.1 inch screen.     Co-founder Wendy Qi…says it can also work with other home automation equipment…

“Right now, we work with the Nest Thermostat, the Philips Hue Smartlight, as well as the WeMo family of switches and light switches.”

Updates to Sentri are automatic and 12 hours of video storage is included for free.  There are plans starting at ten dollars a month…for seven days of storage.    The list price…about three hundred dollars.  The site is Sentri.me.    You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
