A place to store and view those family photos: Bevy

Techstination feature for Monday, January 11, 2016

A place to store and view those family photos.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   We’re taking more pictures than ever….thanks to the cameras in our smartphones.   There are plenty  of services that let you store those images in the cloud, but there are alternatives.   One is from Lineage Labs, which has created a small computer called Bevy.   Co-founder Firdaus Bhathena…

“Bevy’s mission is to enable today’s digital family to collect, organize, protect and enjoy all of the family photos that everyone in the family takes.  I keep saying photos but I also mean video.  Video support on Bevy is coming out in the next couple of months.   This is a dedicated appliance in your home.”

Set up is easy.  Bevy makes sharing photos simple and has an HDMI port so you can view the photos stored on a big screen TV too.   The one terabyte version sells for about 300 dollars, with an additional terabyte going for fifty dollars more.   There’s more info at LineageLabs.com.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
