If you're among the millions of people who carry around one of those Palm computers... .just look for the bulging shirt pocket... .there's good news. Until now, only the Palm VII with its flip-up antenna offered a wireless way to check your email and get information from the Web. There are expensive add-on wireless modems you can buy for other models, but now the folks at Palm are going to make it easy and a lot less expensive. By the end of this year, it will begin selling a mobile Internet kit... and the price, says COO Alan Kessler, will be under fifty dollars...

"And what this allows us to do, via software, is to enable virtually every single Palm product we've ever sold to access the Intenet and to use some of the features of our very popular Palm VII to access content from the Internet."

Other Palm news... new devices will include support for add-on memory. Consumer electronics giant Sony is building one that will use its Memory Stick technology. Sony's Kevin Mizuhara...

"It's actually thinner than the Palm III and slimmer than the Palm V."

Besides the memory stick, they'll have a jog dial on the side for one handed operation. That's a nice touch already available handhelds using the rival PocketPC system from Microsoft.
