A little tech for your garage. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. It’s pretty easy to install devices these days to let you open and close garage doors with a smart phone. That’s handy for when you need to open for someone while you’re away from home. Otherwise…remote control buttons that have been available in cars are easier and faster to use. But when it comes to parking just the right distance from the wall, a gadget called Striker uses sonic detection and LED lights that change color from green to yellow to red to make it simple. Striker Concepts owner James Burry…
“Take the sensor, and it comes with double sided tape, and you just mount that to your wall or work bench or maybe a freezer that you have in your garage. And you set it bumper height. And then you just take the rest of the object, which is what has the LEDs, the lights, the green, yellow, red lights. And you mount that within your line of sight as you drive.”
Setting the proper distance is as simple as pushing a button. You can find Striker for under 30 dollars. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
