A lightbulb that can power itself: SmartCharge Light

Techstination feature for Wednesday, February 17, 2016

A lightbulb that can power itself.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     When the power goes out, it is always good to have flashlights handy.   But what if you could still turn your lights on and off from a wall switch.      A company called TVL International has created an LED bulb called the SmartCharge Light that can do just that and provide light for as long as four hours.    Founder Shailendra Suman says it works with built in recharageable batteries that last for years and can be replaced….

“It looks like a normal lightbulb.  It works like a normal lightbulb every day.   But when power goes out, still you can operate from the same wall switch.  And you don’t have to make any changes.”

It took some sophisticated technology to accomplish that.   The bulbs, shipping next month for about twenty dollars, are on Indiegogo and you can find more info at smartchargelight.com.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
