LG’s G5 brings a modular approach to mobile phones. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. LG has unveiled its new flagship phone…the G5. And the big news is that it has the ability to use attachable modules…otherwise known as Friends. One is called the LG Cam Plus…essentially an add on battery that also serves as a camera grip. Another, called the LG Hi-Fi Plus…gives the G5 high end audio capabilities. The phone arrives at the beginning of next month and analyst Ian Fogg at IHS says…
“LG is now a challenger. It’s no longer a leader. It needs to demonstrably differentiate its products from Apple, Samsung and the rising wave of Chinese competition. And what they’re doing here is creating a range very different from everyone else’s smartphone or accessory products.”
Like Samsung, LG is also coming out with a 360 degree camera and virtual reality headset. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
