MP3 music, that you can download from the Net or create yourself from music CDs, is getting more popular all the time. And not just among college and high school students. You can turn your PC into a jukebox or download the files into handheld players. Now comes the next step... playing those files through your home stereo system. (sound) Dell is coming out with what it calls a Digital Audio Receiver. VP Stephan Godevais says the box plugs into a phoneline to network with a PC in the house... and then connects to a stereo system...

"With this device, basically what it does is pull the files from the PC into your stereo."

Dell will be selling the Digital Audio Receiver as a 200 dollar add-on to its desktop systems. Stand alone, it will cost fifty dollars more... .

"With the stand alone kit you will have to do some installation with the network and things like that but we expect it's going to be very simple. Actually we've run several usability tests in our labs with people that were fairly novice about computers and music on computers and everybody managed to put the solution together in a very short period of time."
