A new Compute Stick from Intel

A new compute stick from Intel.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    It looks a bit like an oversized USB flash drive, but Intel’s latest Compute Stick is designed to plug into the HDMI port of a TV or monitor to instantly turn it into an all in one Windows 10 based computer.   It includes the latest WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities, USB ports and a microSD slot.   What you want it for?  Intel product marketing manager Bruce Patterson says lots of people like to jump on social media while watching TV.   Beyond that…

“The ability to watch movies, whether it’s from paid subscriptions that you have through the Internet or free content that’s online.  Or, maybe, being able to stream content from your own devices.”

The built in 32 gigs of storage is pretty limited, but you can remedy that through the microSD slot.    Don’t plan on editing videos or photos with it…but for basic tasks…the Compute Stick is a welcome addition to the family room.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
