"Well Transmeta makes a completely new kind of microprocessor that is very low power. And that's going to enable different computer companies to build very lightweight notebook computers with much longer battery life than we've had before. So lighter weight so it is not so heavy to carry around, you can skip carrying those extra batteries and you can play one or two DVD movies without running out of battery life."
Some big name companies will have Crusoe based notebooks out this year. Intel is already fighting back. Mobile computing VP Frank Spindler...
"We have just introduced five microprocessors for the mobile computing segment. These include the new Pentium III SpeedStep at 750 MHz. What we're delivering with the SpeedStep technology is desktop like performance, so these systems are approaching the speeds of the fastest desktop systems."
