Using tech to keep food fresh.    I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Storing food in a vacuum sealed container is a great way to keep it fresh for a longer period of time.   Often much, much longer.  Take fresh roasted coffee beans for instance.    But many solutions require you to use a pump along with a container and that can become cumbersome.   A company called Ankomn is on the market with an alternative design called the Savior that lets you simply twist a knob on top of the container to create a vacuum.   Director of Operations Pete Siano…

“When you’re turning the knob, there’s gears inside and inside those gears drive a pump.  And the  pump pumps thirty two times every time you turn it.  So you keep turning the knob until it gets tight and you’re at about thirty percent vacuum of air that was inside the container.”

Pricing starts at about 70 dollars.  You can find more at Ankomn.com.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
