Marriott is using tech to get more personal with guests.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     With its Web site and mobile app…bringing in billions of dollars worth of business, Marriott is constantly looking at new ways to use technology to improve the guest experience.  Sr. VP of Digital George Corbin says mobile check-in and mobile check-out are features that are growing rapidly.  At the Renaissance New York Midtown, there’s an interactive gesture controlled wall…to help guests find places of interest or a great place to eat…

“There’s a generational shift happening from boomers to what we call the next gen traveler.  A combination of Gen X-Gen Y, but also just a mindset shift.  And most crucial to this mindset shift is that technology fits at the center of their habits.  And this changes a lot of things.”

Making Netflix and YouTube available in rooms is growing.   And Marriott is evaluating the use of smartphones as room keys as well.   There’s more to come.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
