VTech’s plans for the LeapFrog brand. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. As of this spring, VTech is the owner of LeapFrog and the President of VTech North America, William To, says consumers needn’t worry about the future of LeapFrog’s great educational technology products. Both VTech and LeapFrog have been making tablets designed for children…but…
“The strategy going forward is to have tablets under the LeapFrog brand. The obviously, when Mom really wants an educational, learning tablet, obviously the LeapFrog brand fits very well into that mindset.”
So educational toys will be under LeapFrog brand, while VTech focuses more on pure play and entertainment. And To doesn’t rule out the possibility of creating apps for kids that will work on grown up mobile devices. You can find us with a full archive of interviews and reports at BootCamp.com.
