Summer Movies...Computer and Video Game Tie-ins

Techstination feature for Friday, July 21, 2000

Another batch of superheroes has made it to the big screen... .The X-Men. And they're on the little screen too. (sound) It may seem as if Activision has wasted no time in creating a new PlayStation game, X-Men Mutant Academy, but game producer Jay Halderman says it has been in development for months...

"And it features ten of your favorite X-Men and eight of them are in the movie and we've put two other, that are very popular comic book characters. Something that not everybody knows is that this comic book property is 36 years old, which brings it all the way back 1963, so there are generations of people who've grown up loving the X-Men."

The game features comic book style violence and is rated for teens and up. For the younger set attracted to the movie... .Chicken Run... .Activision is out with the Chicken Run CD ROM Fun Pack... . (sound) It features games such as Run Chicken Run and Spring Chicken, screen savers and video clips from the film and a clock-a-doodle-doo desktop clock. It runs on Windows. Like the movie, it's lighthearted fun... and this kind of fowl-play is for all ages. Sorry. Bad yolk. You can find us on the Web at Bootcamp.com Bootcamp, I'm Fred Fishkin for CBS News.
