More Dazzling Design From Apple

Techstination feature for Monday, July 24, 2000

A full fledged computer stuffed into an eight inch cube, a whole new line of iMacs, and dual processors standard on higher end G4s. Apple is doing it again... in the company's words... thinking different. Putting on a show and wowing the crowd is what Apple CEO Steve Jobs does best. And at this year's MacWorld Expo in New York he introduced the new G4s with his typical flare...

"Because two brains are better than one, we're going to make multi-processing with dual processors standard in the top two PowerMac models. And we think that this is going to be the best PowerMac ever, not only the fastest MacIntosh, but continue the PowerMac tradition as being the fastest personal computer in the world."

Speed can be debated, but what can't be is Apple's leadership when it comes to design. The iMac, first introduced two years ago, has had its translucent, multi-colored look copied in all kinds of high tech and not so high tech devices. New colors are on tap for this year. And then... there is... the Cube. A G4 powered computer in an elegant looking eight inch cube...

"Quite possibly, the most beautiful product we've ever designed. The computer is in an 8 inch cube and it's suspended in a stunning crystal clear enclosure."
