Bringing e-bikes to the mainstream.    I’m Fred Fishkin with BootCamp, your Techstination for gadgets and gear.    One of the companies looking to bring bicycles that can be pedaled or powered with electric motors into more households is Prodeco Tech.   It has become the first to launch electric bikes at Dick’s Sporting Goods.   CEO Robert Provost …

“So we’re in basically about fifty stores and we plan on expanding that over the next year and it’s been a great program.  It’s been successful.”

Prodeco has about thirty different models including some that fold.   We’ve had a look at the Phantom 400….which can zip along at about twenty miles an hour using the throttle…no pedaling necessary at all.   It is impressively styled…with the lithium ion battery sliding in behind the seat.   The range is typically 25 to 50 miles…depending how much you rely on the motor to assist your legs.   It sells for about fourteen hundred dollars…at the low end of the price range for many ebikes on the market.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
