Teaching kids coding with drones

Teaching kids coding….with drones.   I’m Fred Fishkin with BootCamp, your Techstination for gadgets and gear.    The well known French technology company Parrot has teamed up with Tynker….which helps kids learn coding through visual applications.   The idea…says Parrot’s Education Program Director Jerome Bouvard…is to capture the interest of kids by having them create programs to control mini drones.   And it is done with Tynker’s programming blocks so it is easy enough for children as young as five or six…

“So you will have a block, let’s say, take off.   You will have a block that says land and another that says move forward.  So let’s say, like, you connect the blocks together, you have the take off, move forward and land…and then you will just press play and the drone will magically take off, move forward and land accordingly with what you programmed within the app.”

Pricing for the kits for kids starts at 99 dollars.  There’s more at edu.parrot.com.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
