Google’s Assistant coming to your home and pocket. I’m Fred Fishkin with BootCamp, your Techstination for gadgets and gear. With Google Home….aimed squarely at Amazon’s Alexa….and Google Pixel phones…aimed at Apple and every other phone maker….the tech giant is looking to give customers access to its artificial intelligence app all the time. It’s called Google Assistant. The new devices including a new high end Chromecast for streaming, feature impressive designs and lots of smarts…and says Google Technologist LayToya Drake…make it very clear that it is time to think of Google as a hardware company…
“That’s exactly right. This is what the announcement was meant to do. We did want to put out a family of products that are the best of Google. And we’ve spent a lot of time developing these. A lot of research …a lot of engineering has gone into these.”
Google doesn’t always succeed. Remember Google Glass? But there are plenty of reasons for the competition to be worried. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
