How smart home tech can help those over fifty

Techstination feature for Monday, December 12, 2016

How smart home tech can help people over fifty.    I’m Fred Fishkin with BootCamp, your Techstination for gadgets and gear.   Some new research from the MIT AgeLab and The Hartford Center for Mature Market Excellence on the top smart home technologies for homeowners over the age of fifty. The Hartford gerontologist Jodi Olshevski says…

“They identified smart smoke and carbon monoxide detectors at the top of the list, followed by wireless doorbell cameras, keyless entry, automatic lighting and smart water shutoff valves.”

Make a note if you’ve got a senior on your holiday gift list.   And MIT AgeLab Director Joseph Coughlin says there’s much more to come….

“What’s coming is even more exciting.  Imagine a check up a day just simply using a mirror in your bathroom.  Imagine your toaster talking to your refrigerator about what food you’ve been using and what you’d need and having that food delivered in real time.”
