Google’s Home challenges Amazon’s Echo. I’m Fred Fishkin with BootCamp, your Techstination for gadgets and gear. Amazon’s Alexa devices have become my favorite new technology over the last two years. The number of devices using the technology and the list of things you can do with it are growing every week. Now there’s an alternative called Google Home. Put it in any room of the house, connect it to your wireless network and you essentially have Google answers instantly, by voice, without having to pick up your phone or tablet. That Google search connection is the biggest advantage Home has at the moment. For playing music, I think the sound quality of Amazon’s Echo has the edge. But, Google Home works seamlessly with Google’s Chromecast giving you voice control for videos on your TV and for music using Chromecast Audio. And Home also lets you easily control Google’s Nest thermostat and a variety of other smart home equipment too. The price? 129. Competition is good! You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
