Volvo partners with Microsoft for in vehicle Skype

Techstination feature for Tuesday, January 10, 2017

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.    Volvo is expanding its partnership with Microsoft to bring Skype for Business…into its 90 series cars.     The idea, says Volvo’s Director of Connected Products and Services David Holececk is to simplify the process of joining a business conference call…so that it’s safe enough for drivers…

“So we’ve worked hard together with Microsoft to enable Skype for Business as a fully integrated in car app and to basically take out some of the pain points of driving and trying to be productive while you’re on the move.”

It can be helpful today…avoiding all that button pushing that it normally takes to join a conference.   Still some may be concerned about driver distraction.   Volvo says it is making the process as safe as possible and beyond that…is looking ahead to when cars will be driving themselves.    You can find us at Techstination.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
