The Best Wireless Net Connection

Techstination feature for Friday, August 18, 2000

Web enabled phones, Palm devices, PocketPCs and two way pagers are scrambling for customers who want to be able to connect anytime and anywhere. Web enabled phones are the most affordable way to go. PDAs like the Palm and PocketPCs have bigger screens but don't stay connected all of the time. Two way pagers do. That means instant delivery of email. So the best solution on the market is a cross between a pager and a PDA... the RIM 957 from Research in Motion...

"The RIM 957 is a wireless handheld device that works with the Blackberry wireless email solution. It's got a rather large 20 line screen so that you can view a lot of text and it's designed to integrate seamlessly with your existing email account."

Research in Motion's Mark Guibert. The 957 is a full function PDA as well, storing your names, addresses, appointments and notes. Instead of a stylus, information is entered through a miniature keyboard. What's amazing is how slim and lightweight it is for a device offering wireless communication right out of the box. The price is on the steep side, about 500 dollars and the service goes for about 40 a month. You can find more info at Blackberry.net. You can find us at Bootcamp.com.
