“Another feature that you get with heart rate is more accurate calorie burn.  So we use your heart rate in addition to your movement to better track your calorie burn all day.  And then you can also get resting heart rate trends within the app or your current resting heart rate on device.”

The Alta HR,  has other features too including smartphone notifications, and it sells for about 150 dollars.  It’s also easily customized with Fitbit or third party bands.
