Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.    When Ford picked a new CEO last week….it turned to the man who was running the carmaker’s autonomous driving efforts.   Just days before, Will Ford, the great,  great grandson of  company founder Henry,   spoke at Princeton University’s SelfDrivingCars Summit.  And I asked him how the founder might view the coming technology….

“It’s a very natural extension of his original mission.   He didn’t set out to make a vehicle.  He, didn’t originally intend on developing the Model T, he just wanted to provide people with greater freedom of mobility.”

Which self driving cars will offer.   And the technology is arriving rapidly.  Princeton’s Autonomous Vehicle Engineering Faculty Chair Alain Kornhauser…

“What consumers should know is that we will have some mobility options for them that will change their lives.  And it’s coming very soon.”
