Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.    Need to clean the floor?   Just say the word.    iRobot has announced that its connected Roomba models….can now be controlled with your voice using Amazon’s Alexa.   And there are new models that are more affordable.  The Roomba 690 and Roomba 890.    Product Manager Austin Harvey says the connectivity has other benefits too…

“For both the 690 and the 890, both of these products will have full cloud capability.   And what that means is the user can now control their robot from anywhere in the world.  So you don’t have to be home to press clean, you can press clean from anywhere.  So you can imagine if you were at work and you want your robot to clean, you press the clean button on your phone, and your robot goes off and cleans your home for you.”

iRobot’s capabilities and technology keep getting better and better.  The Roomba 690 is priced at 375 dollars.
