"What's great about it is at 149 dollars with the ability to take photos and video on the go and the ability to connect it to your PC and make video phone calls or record video emails, it has a great amount of value for the 149 dollar price."
The Pocket PC Camera does triple duty... as a camera attached to the PC, a digital video camera, for short clips and as a digital still camera. The trade offs... there is no LCD panel for reviewing photos on the spot, there's no flash and the resolution is only 640 by 480. You won't get good print outs above snap shot size... but as Canfield points out...
"Because consumers mostly are buying digital cameras to share images over the Internet, it's really perfect. It creates files that are really small enough that it doesn't swamp someone's email in box to receive photos from family members."
So don't abandon your traditional film camera, but if you want to take shots for email or the Web, the Pocket PC Camera is a good choice. You can find more info at Intel.com. Bootcamp, I'm Fred Fishkin, Bloomberg News.
