GPS for your Pocket PC. I'm Fred Fishkin with Bloomberg Bootcamp. They've produced the best GPS software for notebook computers, now TravRoute has done it again... .creating software and hardware that lets you transform a PocketPC into an economical and transportable GPS system for your car. Princeton professor and TravRoute founder Alain Kornhauser...

"We've taken it from the mainframe to the PC and now really to the handheld side. The new Pocket PCs now have a strong enough processor and enough memory to really do this task"

Pocket CoPilot includes a GPS receiver that plugs into a cigarette lighter and a kit to mount the Pocket PC on the dashboard. The accuracy is on target most of the time and the system gives you large print warnings of upcoming turns... .and audible directions too... (sound). You'll need a Compact Flash Card to store street level maps. The bigger the better...

"The entire of the United States, all streets, six million miles of road, a hundred million addresses, three million points of interest... all that ends up taking up about a gigabyte."

Pocket CoPilot lets you download only what you need from your PC to the handheld. The price... about 300 dollars. A Palm version? Sorry, not yet. It doesn't have enough memory or processor. You can find more info on the Web at pocketcopilot.com. Bootcamp, I'm Fred Fishkin, Bloomberg News.
