NASA's Globe Observer lets you pitch in with Citizen Science

Techstination feature for Tuesday, February 20, 2018

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.    Want to do some work with NASA?     The agency has a citizen science program called Globe Observer that allows everyday people to participate in the monitoring environmental conditions.    Coordinator Holli Kohl…

“So you can use your smart phone to go identify what kinds of clouds you have in the sky and what color the sky is and what your visibility is.  And all of those things help us understand what our satellites are showing us from space, looking down at the clouds and pollution and other kinds of things that are in the atmosphere.  So you’re getting the view form the ground up, our satellites are getting the view from the top down…we put those two together and it gives us a nice complete picture of what’s happening in the atmosphere.”

Curious?   The app is free.  You can learn more at observer.globe.gov.
