Netgear unveils Armor security service

Techstination feature for Tuesday, August 28, 2018

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.      Netgear has partnered with Bitdefender to bring new levels of security to its wireless routers.    Starting with the popular Nighthawk  R7000P, the new Armor service is available offering protection for everything on your home network…including thermostats and security cams…and mobile devices too.   Nighthawk Director of Product Management Abhay Bhorkar…

“With the router as your first line of defense such a service is very critical.   It can actually detect threats on your device if it is already exposed to some vulnerabilities.  Are you using default passwords,  are there any back door entries, open ports.”

There’s a 90 day free trial…with the service …after that…priced at about 70 dollars a year.  Netgear plans to expand the service to other routers as well.
