Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin. It may have some new competition….but Amazon’s Alexa has become a consumer electronics juggernaut. Amazon’s move to let you turn recent Kindle Fire HD devices into an Alexa Show with the addition of a cradle…is more than worthwhile…if you have one of the Kindles. But what is really amazing is Amazon’s announcement this month that Alexa now works with more than twenty thousand devices…including laptops, home alarm systems, appliances and a variety of third party smart speakers. I don’t know what the figures are….but there are no doubt many households with multiple Alexa devices. At the beginning of this year…Amazon said more than 39 million Americans were using at least one. It’s a category growing faster than any other in consumer electronics.
