Sena adds more safety and communications to bike helmet

Techstination feature for Wednesday, November 14, 2018

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.        You already know that bike helmets make cycling safer.    But a company called Sena takes it several steps further by integrating Bluetooth and walkie talkie type functionality into helmets for easy communication between up to four riders.      Sena’s Kasey Clough…

“So the intercom you can talk with up to four riders.  The speakers are right above your ear, the microphone just above your forehead,  and it’s a 900 meter range.  So you can get pretty far.  As long as you can kind of see the rider you guys can get pretty far away from each other and still openly communicate.”

The R1 helmets are beautifully designed and the built in technology in our testing has been dependable.   The company has a history making helmets for motorcycle riders. The helmets are an investment…priced at about 229 dollars.    Find more at Sena.com.   You can find us at Techstination.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
