Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.    Zoom is a company that has been around for years  creating versatile recording gear, whether you need a recorder to take along in your pocket or to record that band…or sound for video.   The company has a new H3 VR is an incredibly compact device using ambisonics to record immersive sound.  Zoom’s Samuel Greene..    

“That is, at its most basic, a four channel audio feed captured with four microphones and decoded from those four microphones to create a 360 degree sound field.”

The H3 VR sells for about 350 dollars.   For other recording needs it is hard to top the flexibility of Zoom’s H4n Pro or the H6 which has interchangeable microphone capsules.  It is what we used to capture interviews at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show and the performance was flawless.
