What's happened in the computer world is that new processors....are running so fast...that computer memory speed can't keep up and performance slows down. New technologies are on the way to change that. Advanced Micro Devices has just announced a new chipset that will work with so called double data rate...or DDR memory. AMD's director of Desktop Product Marketing ...Tim Wright...

"What you'll see as an average computer user is that applications that you care to use on your PC will perform more quickly. Especially graphics or multimedia types of applications like editing video or if you happen to manage your photos on your personal computer or if you download video clips or MP3 files from the Internet... you'll see improved performance in how that content is rendered on your PC.

The performance boost...says Wright...will be noticeable....and the good news is...it shouldn't be much more expensive...

"DDR memory is an evolution of synchronous DRAM technology. The advantage of that is that it will be cost effective to manufacture in the kind of volume you need in personal computers. We will see initial systems available in the channel in the November time frame.
