It started with GT Interactive's Deer Hunter and now Deer Hunter II.... (sound), and now comes the hilarious parody from Simon and Schuster Interactive, Deer Avenger.. (sound)In this game the hunters become the hunted, stalked by a buck named Bambo. The humor is the work of Brian McCann, a writer for Late Night With Conan O'Brien. First, you choose your weapon...

"You can have slingshot, which would pelt your prey with deer pellets, which evokes all sorts of responses depending who you are shooting at. There's the classic countrified bumpkins out there and there's yuppies and there's tree hugging types. There's also an M16, one of the forest friendly guns that we've decided to throw into our little game. As well as a bazooka."

McCann says there are no politics here. The game isn't anti-hunting. It's just funny...

"It kind of, just on the surface might sound like a pro animal rights sort of game. For the billionth time, that's not the message being sent whatsoever."
